Exchange: Troubleshooting Migration Issues

Between January 3 and 10, 2017, University of Arkansas faculty and staff Exchange mailboxes were migrated to the Office 365 cloud. Once your email is migrated, you could experience issues with some of your devices or email apps.

Office 365 Outlook Web App

If you log in at exchange.uark.edu and your account is already migrated, you will be prompted to go to https://outlook.com/owa/uark.edu.

You can start accessing the Office 365 Outlook Web App directly at http://outlook.office.com.

Outlook 2016 

  • When logging in, always include @uark.edu in the Username field, for example, username@uark.edu. 
  • Click Allow or OK for all requests to update permissions, certificates, etc. If you have multiple Exchange accounts added to Outlook, it might be necessary to remove and re-add them after the migration. 

Note for Mac users: When adding an account, be sure to select Exchange as the account type. Do not select Outlook.com.

macOS Mail (OS X Mail)

When logging in, always include @uark.edu in the Username field, for example, username@uark.edu.

Once you are migrated, the mac OS Mail (OS X Mail) app will not automatically redirect to the new Exchange Online environment. Follow the instructions below to remove/re-add the account (this will not affect your local mailboxes): 

  1. Quit the Mail app.
  2. Open System Preferences and select Internet Accounts.
  3. Select the Exchange account and click the Delete (-) button.
  4. Add a new Exchange account using your UARK email address and username. Make sure to use outlook.office365.com if prompted for a server name.
  5. Re-open the Mail app.

The application will start syncing the Inbox and other folders.

Android

  • When logging in, always include @uark.edu in the Username field, for example, username@uark.edu.
  • If autodiscover does not work, select “Manual setup” and click “Exchange Activesync” for the account type.
  • If the Server name field says uark.edu or exchange.uark.edu, change it to outlook.office365.com.
  • It may be necessary to add a backslash in front of the username, for example, \username@uark.edu.
  • If the account is not working at all it may be necessary to remove/re-add the account.

iOS for iPhone and iPad

  • When logging in, always include @uark.edu in the Username field, for example, username@uark.edu.
  • If the account is not working at all it may be necessary to remove/re-add the account settings.
  • When adding an account, choose Exchange for the account type. Do not select Outlook.com
