Address Book

Importing an Address Book File

  1. Open the Mac OS X Address Book.

  2. From the menu choose File, Import.

  3. Browse to locate your Exported Address Book file or vCard.

  4. Select the file to import. Click Open.

  5. Click the appropriate action depending on file type to confirm import.

Exporting an Address Book File

  1. Open the Mac OS X Address Book.

  2. From the menu choose File, Export.

  3. Select a file format, Export vCard or Address Book Archive.

  4. Select a location. Click Save.

UA Directory Access

Access and search UARK email addresses by adding Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to your address book preferences.

Note: The UA Directory address book is not available for UARK Gmail at this time. To search for university email addresses, go to UA Directory in your web browser.

  1. Open the Mac OS X Address Book.

  2. From the menu bar, select Address Book, then Preferences.

  3. Click the LDAP icon.

  4. Click + (Add).

  5. Type in UA LDAP as a name for the account.

  6. Enter acme.uark.edu in the Server field.

  7. Enter the following information under Search Base: ou=People,o=uark.edu,o=UoA

  8. Click Save.

Doesn't work; I enter a search term ("morris," my last name to test, plus the last names of two), and after a far-too-long search delay, I get "no matching cards found" or the little busy indicator stops silently. Should I include credentials, or be using SSL?
