Microsoft Office 2010: Activate from Off Campus

The following instructions refer to activating Office 2010 for copies purchased through the Microsoft Campus Agreement.

How To Activate Automatically (Recommended)

  1. Log into VPN at vpn.uark.edu with your UARK username and password. If prompted, install the VPN software.

  2. Once the VPN connection is established, open Microsoft Word. Office should automatically activate. Note: You might need to close and re-open Word.

  3. To view your activation status, click File, then click Help. Your status is indicated on the right.

How to Activate Manually (Advanced)

Open an administrator command prompt and type:

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\cscript ospp.vbs /act
(Activates Office 2010 when connected to campus net via VPN)

For additional information, enter the following:

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus
(Displays expiration date of current license)

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:kms.uark.edu
(Sets the KMS license host manually; this is optional)

Note: If you are using 64bit Windows, use "Program Files (x86)"

I have attempted this several times both on and off campus and am still not able to activate my Microsoft Office 2010. Is there a different version of Microsoft Office I should download before opening it?
