UARK Jabber: Psi
The following information applies to both the Mac and Windows versions of Psi.
Add a UARK Jabber Contact

If you know the contact's UARK username, click General and Add a contact.

Type the contact's Jabber ID using their UARK username (e.g. username@jabber.uark.edu).

Select "Request authorization when adding." Click Add.

If you do not know the contact's UARK username, click General and Service Discovery.

Double-click UARK User Directory to perform a search. Search by last name for better results.

Click the username and click Add Contact.
Add Other Chat Service Contacts
To add a contact who is using MSN, Google, AIM, ICQ, or Yahoo! IM systems, you must have a valid username and password for that system and register that account in Psi.
Registering other chat services (transports):

Click General and Service Discovery.

Double-click the service you want to register (e.g. AIM Transport).

Enter your screenname or UIN and password for the chat service.

Click Register.
Adding a MSN, Google, AIM, ICQ, or Yahoo! contact:

Click General and Add a contact.

Select the chat service from the Service dropdown menu. When adding a Google contact, select Jabber and enter the contact's full Google e-mail address for Jabber ID.

Enter the contact's screenname or UID, then click Get Jabber ID.

Select "Request authorization when adding," and click Add.
Chat Rooms
Remove Join/Leave Messages

From the main Psi window, click General, Options, then Advanced.

Click the triangle next to options to expand the list.

Click the triangle next to muc.

Double-click the show-joins option to change the value from true to false.

Click OK.
