XpressMail: Address Book Export and Import
Exporting your XpressMail Address Book
Address book Groups will not be exported. Before exporting your address book, move any addresses saved to a Group into the master address book by removing the contacts from the Group. Also remove all apostrophes from entries and make sure addresses do not have quotation marks around them.

Log into XpressMail.

From the Inbox, click Addresses.

Click Export on the right to download a copy of your address book.

Click the link to download the file manually. Save the file as the default "Comma separated values (.csv)."
Importing your XpressMail Address Book
The following instructions are for importing your XpressMail Address Book to UARK Gmail, UA Mail, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, Outlook Express, Outlook 2011, and OS X Mail.
UARK Gmail
Before opting in to UARK Gmail, XpressMail users must export their XpressMail address books (see above). After opting in, users can import their address book to UARK Gmail following the instructions below.

Log into UARK Gmail with your UARK Gmail address (username@email.uark.edu) and your UARK password.

Click the Mail dropdown menu and select Contacts.

From the More actions dropdown menu, select Import.

Click Choose File and select the file you want to import. Click Import.
After the import is complete, UARK Gmail will display the number of contacts imported.
Information about importing contacts to UARK Gmail:
- You can import 3,000 contacts at a time.
- Non-ASCII or non-Latin characters are not accepted.
- Information formatted as a group or distribution list will not transfer to your UARK Gmail contacts.
- If you import a contact with the same name as an existing contact, the old contact will be replaced by the new one.
UA Mail

Log into UA Mail with your UARK username and password.

Click Address Book on the UA Mail navigation menu.

Click Import/Export.

Select the import format of the source file: Comma separated values (.csv).

(Optional) Check the box "Replace existing address book with the imported one?" This will delete all entries in the current address book.

Click Browse and select your imported address book file. Click Next.

Click Next to accept the default settings.

Select matching fields. Matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible (i.e., "Imported Fields: First Name" should be paired with "Available Fields: First Name" and so on). Click "Add Pair" after each pairing is made. The paired fields will be listed below. If Contact Names are imported as Full Name (not First Name, Last Name), match Alias under "Available fields" to Full Name under "Imported fields."

When all desired Imported fields and Available fields have been matched and added, click Next. UA Mail will indicate whether the import was successful.
Outlook 2010

Open Outlook 2010.

Click the File tab, Open, and Import.

The Import wizard will launch. Click "Import from another program or file." Click Next.

Click Comma Seperated Values (Windows). Click Next.

Browse and select your exported address book file. Click Open.

Set preferences on allowing duplicate entries. Click Next.

Select Contacts as the destination folder. Click Next.

Place a checkmark in the box next to Import "xpressmail_contacts.csv" and click Map Custom Fields.

Select matching fields. The matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible (i.e., "From Comma Seperated Values (Windows) Value: First Name" should be paired with "Microsoft Office Outlook Contacts: First Name," and so on). To match the fields, drag the values from the source file on the left and drop them on the proper field in the Outlook Contacts box on the right. If Contact Names are imported as Full Name (not First Name, Last Name), match Name under "Available fields" to Full Name under "Imported fields."

Click OK.
Outlook 2011

Open Outlook 2011.

Click Contacts on the navigation menu and click the Tools tab. Click Import.

The Import wizard will launch. Select the radio button next to "Contacts or messages from a text file." Click the right-arrow.

Select "Import contacts from a tab- or comma-delimited text file." Click the right-arrow.

Browse and select your exported address book file. Click Import.

Select matching fields. The matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible (i.e., "Mapped Fields: First Name" should be paired with "Unmapped Fields: First Name," and so on). To match the fields, drag the unmapped field to the proper location in the Mapped Fields box. Unmapped fields will be imported to "Notes". If Contact Names are imported as Full Name (not First Name, Last Name), match Nickname under "Available fields" to Full Name under "Imported fields."

Click Import. Save the field mappings as XpressMail to make an option available from the dropdown menu the next time you import an address book (optional).

Click Finish.
OS X Mail

Open the Address Book application.

From the menu choose File, Import.

Click Browse and select your exported address book file. Click Open.

Select matching fields. The matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible (i.e., "Address Book: First" should be paired with "xpressmail_contacts.csv: First name" and so on). To match the fields, click the double-arrows next to "Do not import," and select the matching field. If Contact Names are imported as Full Name (not First Name, Last Name), match Nickname under "Available fields" to Full Name under "Imported fields."

Click OK.
Outlook 2007

Open Outlook 2007.

Click the File tab and select Import and Export.

The Import wizard will launch. Click "Import from another program or file." Click Next.

Open Microsoft Outlook Express 6.

Select File, Import, Other Address Book.

Click Text File (Comma Separated Values) and click Import.

Browse and select your exported address book file. Click Open and Next.

Select Matching fields. Place a checkmark in the box next to the first entry and click Change Mapping.

Select matching fields from the dropdown menu. The matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible (i.e., the "Text Field: First Name" should be paired with"Address Book Field: First Name," and so on). Check the box to "Import this field," and click OK after each pairing is made.

The Selected Pair of matching fields to import will be listed. Click Finish; click OK; click Close.

I followed the instructions above for exporting, and have tried multiple times, but it only exports the first 24 addresses from my address book.

To the first poster, yes, you may just log in as usual on UA Mail. You simply won't have access to your old XPressMail address book. Thanks for the comment!

Be sure to include info about quotes in any address will prevent the whole list from exporting!!

if i dont do this, can i just log in as usual with uamail?
