EchoSystem Overview
After logging into ESS, users with Presenter status will see the Echoes and Configuration tabs. If you don't see these tabs, contact the Faculty Technology Center.
The Echoes tab shows a list of previously uploaded captures and allows faculty to manage content. New users will not see any captures listed unless they were assigned as presenters to previously recorded captures. An uploaded capture will not appear immediately in the Echoes tab. Presenters will receive alert emails when content is available in ESS.
The Echoes menu provides the capture title, the presenter's name, the term, capture start time, and the status of the content. To the right of the capture title, a list of links are available for viewing and managing content.
- View opens the capture in the Rich Media Player. If a webcam was used to record the capture, the webcam video will be displayed within the Flash-based interface.
- Play mp3 opens the content in an audio-only mp3 format.
- Play m4b opens the content in an enhanced podcast format that includes audio with still images at chapter markers.
- Play m4v opens the content in a vodcast format that includes audio with full motion desktop video.
- Edit allows a presenter to edit the content of a capture, as well as the capture title, publishers, and presenters.
- Download allows you to download all of the published capture content to your desktop.
- Closed Caption allows you to download the mp3 file used for closed captioning. Automated closed captioning is also available.
- Delete is used to delete an individual capture. Deleted captures can be retrieved from the Deleted subtab in the ESS.
Clicking the capture title link will display information such as direct links to the full rich media output and RSS feeds if enabled.
