Clickers: Student Purchase and Registration
This guide details steps to set up and participate in classroom polling sessions.
-
Step 1: Purchase ResponseCard LCD.
-
Step 2: Identify Device ID.
-
Step 3: Register Device ID in Blackboard Learn.
-
Step 4: Use your clicker in class to respond to questions.
Step 1: Purchase ResponseCard LCD
Students can purchase clickers at the university bookstore. Select the ResponseCard LCD for purchase.
Step 2: Identify Device ID
The Device ID is a six digit hexadecimal number on the back of the clicker below the barcode. Device IDs contain characters from A to F and 0 to 9, and do not contain O, I, or L, characters that can be confused for zeros and ones.

Step 3: Register Clicker in a Blackboard Learn Course
After logging into Blackboard Learn at learn.uark.edu, choose a course that requires clickers.
-
Click Register Response Card under Course Tools.
-
In the Response Device ID field, enter the six digit code identified in Step 2 (above). Re-enter it in the Confirm Response Device ID field. Click Submit.
Step 4: Use Clicker in Class to Answer Questions
There is no clicker on/off key. The clicker will go into Sleep mode after a few seconds and will "wake up" when you press a button.
Set the clicker to the same radio frequency as your faculty by:
-
Pressing Channel
-
Entering the two digit channel number
-
Pressing Channel again
Press the corresponding key on the clicker to submit an answer to a classroom clicker question. A green light above the 3/C confirms your answer was sent. You may change your answer while polling is open by selecting another answer.
Troubleshoot Clickers
Troubleshooting tips for the following indicator lights on the clicker devices:
| Light | Reason |
|---|---|
| Amber light | The poll you were participating in is closed. Your battery is low. |
| Red light | Program your clicker to the correct channel (see Step 4). |
| Green light with no points | Register your clicker again, and confirm the clicker ID. Inform your instructor that you have re-registered. |
| No light | Remove the plastic film from the back of the device. Check the battery. Your clicker could be defective. |
