Blackboard: Web Browser Compatibility

Some users have reported web browser problems when using Blackboard Learn. The following information describes these problems and the solutions recommended by IT Services. Report Blackboard Learn issues to the Blackboard Support Line at 575-6804.

Windows

In the latest version of Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft removed the progress indicator. When a user clicks Submit in a Blackboard Learn course, there is no indication that the information was submitted, causing some users to click twice. If the user clicks Submit a second time, an error can occur and information can be lost. IT Services recommends that users install a current version of Firefox to avoid this problem. As a secondary solution, Chrome is also recommended.

Mac

IT Services has applied a patch to Blackboard Learn that allows Mac users to click a direct link to download PDFs. This solution was designed in response to user reports that embedded PDFs were not accessible in Safari or Firefox on newer versions of Mac OS X.

For other problems accessing Blackboard Learn content, IT Services recommends users install a current version of Firefox. As a secondary solution, Chrome is also recommended.
