ARE-ON
The Arkansas Research and Education Optical Network (ARE-ON) provides the optical network infrastructure for Arkansas to meet the challenges of the 21st century global economy. ARE-ON supports the Arkansas research and higher education community and actively solicits faculty input in the utilization of this state-of-the-art infrastructure.
While optical networks are being developed in most states, ARE-ON's unique implementation emphasizes practical application and currently involves all four-year institutions within the state's higher education system. ARE-ON gives researchers, educators, and others access to national and international research networks such as the National LambdaRail (NLR) and Internet2.
